A New Chore

The last month or so I've been avoiding a "real" grocery trip for 2 reasons... they look so cute and innocent don't they?

Now I know many would probably label me crazy for ever liking grocery shopping in the first place, but I really did (emphasis on did) Ever since being married and setting up shop, I've loved my grocery trips. Even more so when I had just Carson, it was such a good excuse to get out of the house on a slow day. I love finding new finds, bringing home too much junk food, but I especially love the challenge of getting the best deals possible. Well getting good deals requires a little more time, and with two kids my time limits have clearly expired. Carson has always been pretty mellow so it never was a chore with him...Enter Brynlee as a toddler....times have changed! Now don't get me wrong, it's not all her, they definitely collaborate and use all their best antics to create the most un-ideal shopping trip. The food I always end up opening mid-trip to keep them happy no longer seems to work it's magic. I've never been one to shop at night when Matt is home, cause grocery shopping is sooo not worthy of trumping any husband time, not to mention the end of day exhaustion. The solution: we'll either eat whatever we can get on 5 minute mini shopping trips here and there for a few essentials, start digging into to food storage, or forego a little husband time to do "real" shopping once in a while. The jury's still out!

I love this. I was actually totally thinking of you when I went to Vons and Rubios today. Oh yes, and option #c) have aunt Mariah come along and try to distract the kiddos, we'll have to try that this summer :) Happy 5 min. shopping!

I know what you mean! Finding the time to grocery shop is a big pain- this and laundry always creep up on me too soon!

Yeah, we've decided to miss out on a little family time to get the shopping done. We've experienced some horrors the last few weeks, and I decided I was done shopping with the two kids together. I hate taking time away from Jeff, but it seemed to be the only option for me.

That is so funny because I love grocery shopping...and...no one seems to understand:) 2 seems to be my limit ...because... when I take all 3, tantrums happen! Like today:) The nice thing is in Utah, everyone understands and really doesn't care that your kid is kicking and screaming...it's more of a normal thing:)I keep vowing to never take all of them again, then a couple days later I'm right back where I started.
Happy shopping:)
BTW...where do you guys live?

LOL, I thiank all us gals feel this way! I just try to make my shopping trips either super fast when daddy gets home (do a kid switch off) or take an unsuspecting friend with me to manage 2 separate carts so there are minimal tantrums. It seems to work for the most part, but normally I just REALLY stretch out time in between grocery shopping trips! I'm hoping it will be better when the kids are slightly older. :)

Seriously, babysitting co-op... It will change your life! I need to email you about your neighborhood. There is still a chance... a small one but one just the same. :)
BTW, We grocery shop at the end of our date nights. :) Boring, huh?

My trips are getting shorter and shorter but more and more boxes are opened along the way-it always starts with a free cookie, but that only seems to last till aisle one. Then it's string cheese, and crackers, and granola bars-I'm sure the cashiers think I'm crazy.
And I only have ONE kid!!

Oh I feel your pain! But I have to admit, it makes me feel better knowing your Target combo doesn't work anymore---it only worked on savannah a couple times, then it lost its magic. Good luck girlie!
